about
Six characters, six songs, six different styles, six different groups of collaborators. With Friends / About Friends is a project from The L-Train exploring the creativity and diversity within the brony musician community. Each track features a different main character, a different style of music and a different set of collaborators.
This time it's a progressive death metal tune inspired by everyone's favourite apple-growin', tree-kickin', countryism-slignin' earth pony and her arch-nemeses! Featuring the connoisseur of cringe himself, Stallionslaughter, on vocals of all kinds as well as providing the wonderful cover art and video.
lyrics
Ever since
I was forced to go out on my own
Granny Smith's doing her best
But she's so old
Always been
A horse that got all the attention
I'm in no need of your help
or relaxation
Once again
I'm stretching myself out too thin
I'm trying to take off the edge
but ponies are desperate for my help
Flim and Flam
Come into town with their machine
The name of the game: manufacturing
They don't give a damn ponies get in the way
Don't give a damn
Flim Flam come in
with their machine
Manufacturing; not a care for quality
Trying to industrialize
Take away the work that we prize
Apple Quality at our pace
Get these brothers out of my face!
(Flim and Flam)
Trying to industrialize
Take away the work that we prize
(Stay True)
Apple Quality at our pace
Lose a dime to save face
We don't get it done over night
But we make sure that we get it done right
You take away the process; you take away the love
Never sacrifice when push comes to shove
They don't care all they want is bits
No room for the joy of it
I can't see why anypony works only for the money
They don't care if the taste doesn't fit
All they want is your hard earned bits
All they want is BITS
Trying to industrialize
Take away the work that we prize
Apple Quality at our pace
Lose a dime to save face
Take away the process; take away the love
Never sacrifice when push comes to shove
[Guitar Solo]
All this time out in the field
taught me a lesson
Nothing like taking the day
and goin' out workin'
They don't care if the taste doesn't fit
All they want is your hard earned bits

Awesome album from start to finish. PW's destinctive style is present throughout, but every track is a fresh effort, and the album successfully transitions from driving rock to mellow contemplation without sounding forced or rehashed. I'm not as big of a fan of the remixes, but I appreciate their inclusion and unique perspective. Hard to ask for more than 16 tracks with no skips! theCANderson
